U.S. stocks fought to rebound from Monday’s fall, but failed as the Dow Jones trended lower for most of the session and closed in the red.

 

Dow Jones finished -51 at 33,919

S&P 500 finished -4 at 4,354

NASDAQ finished +33 at 14,746

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 1 basis point yielding 1.32%

Oil prices closed up $0.22 ending at $70.51 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $11.70 ending at $1,775 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Uber closed up more than 11% after the company boosted its third-quarter financial outlook in a regulatory filing. Uber’s bookings and adjusted earnings are now expected to be better than first reported.
  • Activision Blizzard closed down 4% after it was reported that the Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating Activision Blizzard’s handling of employees’ allegations of sexual misconduct and discrimination.
