The S&P 500 closed lower today for the first time in nine sessions as investors took some profits after an October rally and awaited key inflation data ahead.

 

Dow Jones finished -112 at 36,319

S&P 500 finished -16 at 4,685

NASDAQ finished -96 at 15,886

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 6 basis points yielding 1.44%

Oil prices closed up $2.46 ending at $84.39 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $6.00 ending at $1,834 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • AMC Entertainment closed down 11.4% even after the company posted a third-quarter loss that was narrower than expected. Their CEO said that there are still pandemic challenges ahead for the company. AMC shares have been at the center of this year’s meme-stock craze, skyrocketing more than 1,800% in 2021.
  • Robinhood closed down 3.4% after the company announced a data security incident that affected 7 million customers. Robinhood said the breach occurred late in the evening on Nov. 3, and that the third party “obtained access to a limited amount of personal information for a portion of [Robinhood’s] customers.”
