Stocks rose today as polls opened Election Day, as investors weighed a host of possible outcomes against a backdrop of an ongoing pandemic and lingering economic strain.

 

Dow Jones finished +555 at 27,480

S&P 500 finished +59 at 3,369

NASDAQ finished +203 at 11,160

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 4 basis points yielding 0.89%

Oil prices closed up $1.10 ending at $37.91 a barrel

Gold prices closed up $15.90 ending at $1,908 an ounce

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

• Ferrari shares popped more than 7% after the luxury car company reported better-than-expected earnings for the previous quarter.
• Wayfair advanced more than 7% after the company reported quarterly numbers that beat analyst expectations on both the top and bottom lines. Revenue came in at $3.84 billion, which was ahead of expectations.
