Stocks moved higher today, with the DOW, S&P, and NASDAQ all finishing in positive territory. In economic news, there were 269,000 jobless claims last week, 2% less than expected.

 

Dow Jones +204 at 36,328

S&P 500 +17 at 4,698

NASDAQ +31 at 15,972

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 7 basis point yielding 1.45%

Oil prices closed up $2.71 ending at $81.52 a barrel

Gold prices closed up $24 ending at $1,817 an ounce

 

Corporate news:

  • Shares of Pfizer finished up 11% after a study showed its experimental Covid-19 antiviral pill reduced the risk of hospitalization and death by 90%. Pfizer said it will ask regulators to approve the pill asap.

 

  • CGC lost less than expected for the quarter, but its shares dropped 11% after missing revenue estimates and having slower-than-expected revenue growth for the 2nd half of 2022.

 

  • Peloton shares declined 35% after the company slashed its full-year sales forecast by $1 billion, amid slowing demand for bikes and treadmills.
