Stocks closed down today as investors turned away from growth shares in anticipation of tighter monetary policy next year.

 

Dow Jones finished -532 at 35,365

S&P 500 finished -48 at 4,620

NASDAQ finished -11 at 15,169

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 1 basis point yielding 1.42%

Oil prices closed down $1.97 ending at $70.41 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $0.20 ending at $1,798 an ounce.

  • Johnson & Johnson closed down 2.8% after the CDC recommended Moderna and Pfizer vaccines for Covid-19 over the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on Thursday. The CDC confirmed 54 cases of people developing blood clots and showing low blood platelet levels after the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
  • FedEx closed up more than 4% after quarterly earnings and revenue results topped expectations and it announced a $5 billion buyback. FedEx also reinstated its original 2022 EPS forecast.
