Stocks closed slightly lower today as traders took a pause after the S&P 500 and Dow logged fresh record highs last week.

 

Dow Jones finished -55 at 33,745

S&P 500 finished -1 at 4,127

NASDAQ finished -50 at 13,850

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 1 basis point yielding 1.67%

Oil prices closed up $0.37 ending at $59.69 a barrel.

Gold prices closed down $13.40 ending at $1,731 an ounce.

  • Alibaba closed up more than 9% after Chinese regulators hit the company with a $2.8 billion fine. The fine amounts to roughly 4% of Alibaba’s 2019 revenue. The action is part of broader scrutiny of internet companies by Chinese regulators.
  • Uber closed up 3% after posting record gross bookings in the month of March. Uber said its mobility segment, or ride-hailing business, posted its best month since March 2020, with an annualized run rate of $30 billion. That was up 9% from a month earlier.
