U.S. stocks closed with record highs today as a strong bounce in U.S. job growth last month raised expectations for a swift economic recovery from the pandemic.

 

Dow Jones finished +374 at 33,527

S&P 500 finished +58 at 4,077

NASDAQ finished +225 at 13,705

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 1 basis point yielding 1.71%

Oil prices closed down $2.68 ending at $58.77 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $0.40 ending at $1,728 an ounce.

  • Planet Fitness closed up 1.5% after the Wall Street Journal reported that it plans to open up to 100 new locations in the coming fiscal year, adding to its current total of more than 2,100. Chief finance officer Tom Fitzgerald told the newspaper that Planet Fitness will also invest in its app.
  • Tesla closed up more than 4% after Tesla’s delivery numbers for the first quarter topped Street expectations. The company said it delivered a total of 184,800 vehicles, while analysts were looking for 168,000 deliveries.
