Stocks closed higher today with investors awaiting the start of first-quarter earnings season to confirm the boost to corporate profits expected against an improving economic backdrop.

Dow Jones finished +57 at 33,503

S&P 500 finished +17 at 4,097

NASDAQ finished +140 at 13,829

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 3 basis points yielding 1.62%

Oil prices closed down $0.02 ending at $59.75 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $15.00 ending at $1,756 an ounce.

Constellation Brands closed down more than 4% despite Constellation Brands beating top and bottom line estimates during the fourth quarter. The company earned $1.95 per share on $1.95 billion in revenue.
Costco closed up slightly after the company said same-store sales jumped 16% during March. Costco said that online sales rose 57.7% year over year, while net sales for the retail month of March came in at $18.21 billion, up from $15.49 billion in the same period a year ago.
