Stocks reversed overnight declines to close higher today as investors considered the latest batch of earnings and economic data and continued to contemplate the path forward for monetary policy.

 

Dow Jones finished +226 at 35,120

S&P 500 finished +36 at 4,441

NASDAQ finished +173 at 14,714

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 1 basis point yielding 1.25%

Oil prices closed down $1.44 ending at $62.25 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $1.00 ending at $1,784 an ounce.

  • Spotify closed up more than 5% after Spotify’s board of directors approved a stock buyback program of up to $1 billion.
  • The Buckle dropped more than 3% despite the retailer’s better-than-expected quarterly earnings results. The company posted earnings of $1.04 per share on revenue of $295 million.
