Stocks slipped from record highs today as lawmakers rushed to bridge differences on additional coronavirus stimulus measures.

 

Dow Jones finished -124 at 30,179

S&P 500 finished -13 at 3,709

NASDAQ finished -9 at 12,755

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 2 basis points yielding 0.95%

Oil prices closed up $0.64 ending at $49.00 a barrel

Gold prices closed down $4.10 ending at $1,886 an ounce

  • Tesla jumped almost 6% to a new all-time high ahead of Tesla’s inclusion in the S&P 500. The stock will be added to the benchmark index before the opening bell on Monday based on Friday’s closing prices.
  • United States Steel saw its stock drop more than 9% after management said it expects a fourth-quarter per-share loss of 85 cents, worse than the 60-cent loss expected, according to a FactSet consensus estimate.
