Stocks struggled for direction today after lawmakers voted to approve a long-awaited virus relief package, to help support many of the individuals and businesses hardest-hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

 

Dow Jones finished -201 at 30,015

S&P 500 finished -8 at 3,687

NASDAQ finished +65 at 12,807

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 2 basis points yielding 0.92%

Oil prices closed down $1.03 ending at $46.94 a barrel

Gold prices closed down $18.40 ending at $1,864 an ounce

  • Apple closed up more than 2% as investors accredited the equity’s strength to reports that Apple is advancing plans to manufacture self-driving cars by 2024, a massive undertaking the tech company has dubbed Project Titan.
  • Peloton jumped more than 11% and hit an all-time high after Peloton announced that it planned to buy equipment manufacture Precor for $420 million. The deal could help Peloton ramp up production to meet strong demand.
