Stocks rose today after data showed new weekly jobless claims fell more than expected last week, even as businesses contended with many new stay-in-place measures as COVID-19 cases spiked.

 

Dow Jones finished +86 at 29,969

S&P 500 finished -2 at 3,666

NASDAQ finished +28 at 12,377

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 3 basis points yielding 0.91%

Oil prices closed up $0.24 ending at $45.52 a barrel

Gold prices closed up $14.80 ending at $1,845 an ounce

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Snowflake the data-warehousing software maker popped more than 16% after its first earnings report as a public company showed 119% revenue growth. The company’s shares debuted on the New York Stock Exchange in September.
  • Boeing gained more than 6% as a European airline increased its order for new planes. Boeing and Ryanair announced that the airline was ordering an additional 75 of the 737 Max Jets, bringing its total order book to 210 planes.
