Stocks closed higher today as traders shook off a disappointing print on job creation in November.

 

Dow Jones finished +249 at 30,218

S&P 500 finished +32 at 3,699

NASDAQ finished +87 at 12,464

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 5 basis points yielding 0.97%

Oil prices closed up $0.39 ending at $46.03 a barrel

Gold prices closed down $1.00 ending at $1,840 an ounce

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • DocuSign closed up more than 5% after beating on the top and bottom lines of its quarterly results. DocuSign posted earnings of 22 cents per share on revenue of $383 million.
  • Big Lots sank more than 11% after the company declined to give guidance as part of its third-quarter earnings report. Big Lots beat analyst expectations on the top and bottom lines, according to FactSet, but the company said in a release that “it does not have sufficient visibility to provide fourth quarter guidance.” CEO Bruce Thorn also said in a release that he expected business to “moderate” in the fourth quarter due to a longer holiday shopping season.
