The S&P 500 closed  slightly lower as investors grow concerned about surging bond yields.

 

Dow Jones finished +64 at 31,522

S&P 500 finished -2 at 3,932

NASDAQ finished -48 at 14,047

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 10 basis points yielding 1.30%

Oil prices closed up $0.71 ending at $60.18 a barrel.

Gold prices closed down $27.90 ending at $1,795 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • CVS closed down more than 4% despite reporting strong earnings backed by pharmacy sales and Covid-19 testing and vaccines. CVS earned $1.30 per share, outpacing the $1.24 per share expected by analysts.
  • AutoNation closed up more than 1% after beating on the top and bottom lines of its quarterly earnings. The car company reported earnings of $2.43 per share on revenue of $5.785 billion.
