Stocks rose slightly today as the three major indexes stabilized following Monday’s declines.

 

Dow Jones finished +60 at 31,068

S&P 500 finished +2 at 3,801

NASDAQ finished +36 at 13,072

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed even yielding 1.14%

Oil prices closed up $0.91 ending at $53.16 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $5.50 ending at $1,856 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Wells Fargo climbed 2% after UBS upgraded it to buy from neutral and made it a top pick. The firm said in a note that Wells Fargo had earnings upside from even small improvements in its business.
  • General Motors jumped 6% to a record high after the auto giant said it plans to launch an all-electric van called the EV600 this year. The van is a part of GM’s plan to invest $27 billion in electric and self-driving vehicles by 2025 and it will be the first vehicle under a new commercial business unit in GM.
