The S&P 500 and NASDAQ rose slightly this afternoon after fluctuating between gains and losses earlier as traders sought signs of the arrival of more stimulus amid the ongoing pandemic.

 

Dow Jones finished -8 at 31,060

S&P 500 finished +9 at 3,809

NASDAQ finished +57 at 13,128

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 4 basis points yielding 1.09%

Oil prices closed down $0.30 ending at $52.91 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $2.50 ending at $1,846 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Target advanced to a new all-time high on Wednesday, before giving back those gains and closing about 1% lower. The move came after Target said same-store sales grew 17.2% over the holidays, with online sales more than doubling in November and December.
  • KB Home rallied more than 2% after KB Home reported better-than-expected quarterly earnings. KB Home reported earnings of $1.12 per share on revenue of $1.19 billion.
