The Nasdaq closes at another record as Big Tech jumps ahead of earnings, S&P 500 squeaks by with a new high.

 

Dow Jones finished -12 at 31,176

S&P 500 finished +1 at 3,853

NASDAQ finished +74 at 13,530

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 1 basis points yielding 1.10%

Oil prices closed down $0.29 ending at $53.02 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $4.40 ending at $1,870 an ounce.

  • United Airlines closed down 5.7% after the company posted a $1.9 billion loss for the fourth quarter. United suffered its fourthly quarterly loss in a row and warned that sales would continue to suffer in the early part of 2021 as the pandemic drags on.
  • SolarEdge – The smart energy technology company gained more than 6% after Morgan Stanley initiated coverage on the stock with an overweight rating. In a note titled “The Sun Keeps on Shining,” the firm said SolarEdge should continue to gain market share in a “fast growing space.”
