Stocks opened higher but ended the day down with every major index finishing in negative territory. In economic news, the home-price index increased 9.5% year-over-year, higher than the expected 8.8%.

S&P 500 -6 at 3,850

NASDAQ -10 at 13,626

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed flat yielding 1.04%

Oil prices closed down $0.27 ending at $52.50 a barrel

Gold prices closed down $4 ending at $1,851 an ounce

 

Corporate news:

  • Shares of Johnson & Johnson moved 3% higher after the company beat earnings and revenue forecasts for its latest quarter. J&J also gave an upbeat 2021 forecast.
  • UBS shares increased 3% after the company reported its best profit since 2006 during the 4th The bank has benefited from a surge in trading volume as well as in lending to wealthy clients.
  • CureVac announced a 5 million share sale to help fund its messenger RNA vaccine program. the biotech firm is currently starting late-stage trials for its Covid-19 vaccine candidate.
