U.S. stocks fell sharply today among disappointing earnings, while concern about heightened speculative trading activity deepened.

 

Dow Jones finished -634 at 30,303

S&P 500 finished -99 at 3,750

NASDAQ finished -355 at 13,270

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 2 basis points yielding 1.02%

Oil prices closed up $0.05 ending at $52.66 a barrel.

Gold prices closed down $10.70 ending at $1,840 an ounce.

  • GameStop shares continued their rally and closed up more than 135%. Retail investors have been driving the share price higher, pushing back against short sellers.
  • Starbucks stock dropped more than 6% after it said Tuesday evening that its U.S. same-store sales fell 5% during its fiscal first quarter amid a surge of new Covid-19 cases.
