Stocks moved higher for a third straight day, with every major index finishing in positive territory. In economic news, there were 419,000 jobless claims last week, more than the expected 350,000.

 

Dow Jones +25 at 34,823

S&P 500 +9 at 4,367

NASDAQ +53 at 14,685

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 2 basis point yielding 1.27%

Oil prices closed up $1.41 ending at $71.71 a barrel

Gold prices closed up $2 ending at $1,805 an ounce

 

Corporate news:

 

  • Shares of the computer equipment maker, Netgear, dropped 10% after the company reported lower-than-expected sales and revenue for its latest quarter, along with guidance falling short of expectations.

 

  • Texas Instruments beat earnings and revenue for its latest quarter. However, its shares declined 5% after the company issued a weaker-than-expected revenue guidance for the current quarter.

 

  • AT&T beat quarterly earnings and revenue estimates, with the help from a greater-than-expected number of wireless subscribers and an increase in signups for its various HBO services.
