Stocks finished the day mixed with the NASDAQ moving higher, while the DOW and S&P both dropped lower. In economic news, durable goods orders increased 0.8% during June, less than the expected 2.1% increase.

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 3 basis points yielding 1.26%

Oil prices closed up $0.56 ending at $72.21 a barrel

Gold prices flat ending at $1,800 an ounce


Corporate news:


  • Shares of Boeing increased 4% after reporting a surprise profit, along with revenue exceeding estimates. this was helped by higher jet deliveries and stronger results from Boeing’s defense and global service operations.


  • Spotify shares dropped 6%, despite beating quarterly earnings and revenue estimates. this drop is due to Spotify saying its monthly active user numbers fell below prior guidance.


  • Microsoft beat earnings and revenue estimates for its latest quarter. This was helped by strong growth in Microsoft’s cloud computing business.
