After a volatile day, every major index finished in negative territory. In economic news, retail sales dropped 1.3% during May, which was more than expected.

 

Dow Jones -266 at 34,034

S&P 500 -23 at 4,224

NASDAQ -33 at 14,040

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 7 basis points yielding 1.57%

Oil prices closed down $0.29 ending at $71.82 a barrel

Gold prices closed down $17 ending at $1,838 an ounce

 

Corporate news:

 

  • Shares of Roblox dropped 8% after the company reported 43 million daily active user during May, which was up 28% from a year earlier, but down about 1% from April.

 

  • The FDA cleared 15 million more doses of Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine that had been produced at a Baltimore plant run by Emergent Bio solutions. This brings the total to 25 million cleared doses.

 

  • Southwest Airlines shares closed down 1% after the company suffered its second computer glitch in 24 hours, with a system outage leading to the cancellation of about 500 flights and delaying many others.
