Stocks closed mixed today as investors weighed the prospects of higher inflation and rates in the U.S. against Friday’s solid print on the U.S. labor market recovery.


Dow Jones finished -126 at 34,630

S&P 500 finished -3 at 4,226

NASDAQ finished +67 at 13,881


The 10 Year Treasury closed up 1 basis point yielding 1.57%

Oil prices closed down $0.41 ending at $69.21 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $10.80 ending at $1,903 an ounce.


In the days’ stock news:


  • Cruise stocks closed up today after Carnival confirmed plans for a July restart. The voyages will only be open to passengers who are fully vaccinated.  Shares of Carnival gained 1%.
  • Meme stocks — Other meme stocks also rose today, mirroring AMC’s rally. BlackBerry gained 13%, Bed Bath & Beyond added more than 7%, and GameStop jumped 12%.
