The Dow closed up 199 points in a late-day rebound which was led by stocks benefiting from reopening.

 

Dow Jones finished +199 at 32,619

S&P 500 finished +20 at 3,909

NASDAQ finished +16 at 12,977

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 2 basis points yielding 1.63%

Oil prices closed down $2.78 ending at $58.40 a barrel.

Gold prices closed down $8.20 ending at $1,725 an ounce.

  • Darden Restaurants closed up more than 8% after the company reported earnings ahead of analysts’ expectations. Darden said it’s forecasting fiscal fourth-quarter results will show that it’s on the way to recovering from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic as more customers flock to Olive Garden and its other chains.
  • Rite Aid dropped more than 20% after Rite Aid said it expects to report a net loss for fiscal 2021. The company said sales of cough, cold and flu-related products declined by nearly 37% during the most recent quarter.
