U.S. stocks fluctuated today with weakness in bank stocks caught in the downdraft of Friday’s margin call, as investors assessed the ripple effect from the forced block trades.

 

Dow Jones finished +98 at 33,171

S&P 500 finished -3 at 3,971

NASDAQ finished -79 at 13,059

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 5 basis points yielding 1.71%

Oil prices closed up $0.59 ending at $61.56 a barrel.

Gold prices closed down $22.80 ending at $1,709 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Boeing closed up more than 2%. The advance came after news that Southwest Airlines had added 100 orders for the airliner’s 737 Max jet. The first 30 jets are scheduled for delivery in 2022.
  • Facebook closed up more than 2% after its price target was hiked to $385 per share from $355. The firm said in a note to client that it is growing more optimistic about Facebook’s advertising business in 2021.
