Stocks closed positive today as investors digested a disappointing April jobs report, which showed the U.S. economy added back far fewer jobs than expected last month despite easing stay-in-place restrictions.

 

Dow Jones finished +229 at 34,777

S&P 500 finished +31 at 4,232

NASDAQ finished +119 at 13,752

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 1 basis point yielding 1.57%

Oil prices closed up $0.10 ending at $64.81 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $17.50 ending at $1,833 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Roku closed up more than 11% after reporting revenue growth grew 79% year over year to $574.2 million. The company also added 2.4 million active accounts compared to the prior quarter.
  • Expedia closed up more than 5% after it reported better-than-expected quarter results. Expedia reported a first-quarter adjusted loss of $2.02 per share on revenues of $1.25 billion.
