The Dow Jones rose on today building on its sharp gains from the previous day as a market rotation out of names that thrived during the pandemic and into stocks linked to an economic recovery continued.

 

Dow Jones finished +263 at 29,420

S&P 500 finished -5 at 3,545

NASDAQ finished -160 at 11,553

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 2 basis points yielding 0.96%

Oil prices closed up $1.05 ending at $41.34 a barrel

Gold prices closed up $17.30 ending at $1,871 an ounce

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Ulta shares closed up more than 7% on news the beauty company has struck a deal to open skincare shops inside of hundreds of Target stores across the country. Each shop will be about 1,000 square feet and will be staffed with Target employees trained by Ulta.
  • Shares of Zoom Video dropped more than 9% as popular stay-at-home companies sunk for a second day following positive news on treatments and vaccines for the coronavirus.
