Stocks closed down today as investors fixed their attention on a key inflation report that showed a greater-than-expected jump in consumer prices last month.

 

Dow Jones finished -240 at 36,079

S&P 500 finished -39 at 4,646

NASDAQ finished -264 at 15,622

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 11 basis points yielding 1.56%

Oil prices closed down $2.88 ending at $81.27 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $22.50 ending at $1,853 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • FuboTV closed down 23% after the company reported a loss late Tuesday of 59 cents per share and revenue of $156.7 million for the third quarter. It also increased its guidance for the fourth quarter.
  • Mastercard shares closed up more than 3% after they disclosed new performance objectives for 2022-2024 at its Investor Day Wednesday showing faster earnings and revenue growth. It also announced the expansion of its buy-now-pay-later program.
