Stocks fell today as an increasing number of U.S. coronavirus cases raised concerns over the health of the economy heading into year-end. Concerns over prospects for a stimulus bill out of Washington also spooked investors.

 

Dow Jones finished -317 at 29,080

S&P 500 finished -36 at 3,537

NASDAQ finished -77 at 11,709

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 11 basis points yielding 0.88%

Oil prices closed down $0.48 ending at $40.97 a barrel

Gold prices closed up $12.60 ending at $1,874 an ounce

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Fossil stock rose more than 24% after Fossil reported an adjusted 31 cents in earnings per share on $435.5 million of net sales during the quarter.
  • Energizer tanked more than 14% following its disappointing earnings report. Energizer earned 59 cents per share, missing the forecast of 81 cents per share.
