Stocks fell today as momentum from yesterday’s rally lost steam. The S&P 500, Dow, and NASDAQ all declined after posting record closing highs a day earlier.

 

Dow Jones finished -167 at 29,783

S&P 500 finished -17 at 3,609

NASDAQ finished -25 at 11,899

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 3 basis points yielding 0.87%

Oil prices closed up $0.05 ending at $41.39 a barrel

Gold prices closed down $6.50 ending at $1,881 an ounce

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Tesla shares rallied more than 8% after S&P said it would add the electric car maker’s stock to the S&P 500 index, effective Dec. 21.
  • Drug store stocks tumbled on Tuesday after Amazon announced its new pharmacy venture that allows for online ordering and delivery of prescription drugs. Shares of Rite Aid sank more than 16%, while Walgreens fell more than 9% and CVS Health lost more than 8%.
