Stocks finished in positive territory today, as investors weighed rising COVID-19 cases in the U.S. and increased restrictions against hopes for an effective vaccine. Jobless claims totaled 742,000 for the week which was higher than expected.

 

Dow Jones finished +45 at 29,483

S&P 500 finished +14 at 3,581

NASDAQ finished +103 at 11,904

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 3 basis points yielding 0.85%

Oil prices closed up $0.08 ending at $41.90 a barrel

Gold prices closed down $8.40 ending at $1,865 an ounce

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Shares GoPro dropped more than 13% after the company said it is planning to raise $100 million through the sale of senior convertible notes due in 2025.
  • Macy’s closed up 2% despite reporting a same-store sales decline of more than 20% in the third quarter.
