Stocks traded mixed today as growing concerns over nationwide COVID-19 lockdowns in Europe raised fears about new restrictions beyond the continent.

 

Dow Jones finished -269 at 35,601

S&P 500 finished -7 at 4,697

NASDAQ finished +64 at 16,057

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 5 basis points yielding 1.54%

Oil prices closed down $2.90 ending at $76.11 a barrel.

Gold prices closed down $13.00 ending at $1,848 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Buckle closed down 6.5% despite beating Wall Street estimates in its quarterly earnings report. The fashion retailer earned $1.26 per share for the quarter.
  • Shares of travel-related stocks dipped after Austria announced earlier in the day that it would reenter a full national lockdown due to a spike in Covid cases. United Airlines fell 2.8% while American dipped almost 1%. Boeing fell 5.8%.
