Optimism over the pending deployment of a COVID-19 vaccine drove the Dow Jones above 30,000 for the first time ever today, extending a rally that’s carried stocks deep into a bull market.

 

Dow Jones finished +455 at 30,046

S&P 500 finished +58 at 3,635

NASDAQ finished +156 at 12,036

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 2 basis points yielding 0.88%

Oil prices closed up $1.83 ending at $44.89 a barrel

Gold prices closed down $32.50 ending at $1,805 an ounce

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Dollar Tree jumped more than 14% on the back of quarterly results that beat analyst expectations. Dollar Tree reported third-quarter earnings of $1.39 per share on revenue of $6.18 billion.
  • Best Buy dropped more than 6% after the retailer sounded alarms on the headwinds from higher shipping costs, inventory challenges and lower-margin holiday sales.
