U.S. stocks pushed modestly higher today as the recent jump in bond yields took a breather, allowing tech stocks to recover.

 

Dow Jones finished -9 at 35,804

S&P 500 finished +11 at 4,701

NASDAQ finished +70 at 15,845

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 3 basis points yielding 1.64%

Oil prices closed down $0.24 ending at $78.26 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $4.00 ending at $1,788 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Dell Technologies closed up 4.8% after reporting adjusted quarterly earnings of $2.37 per share with growing demand for its computers and servers, and issued a stronger than expected current-quarter forecast.
  • Deere closed up more than 5% after the company issued stronger-than-expected quarterly earnings. Deere posted earnings of $4.12 per share last quarter. Deere said solid demand for its products helped cushion the impact of a month-long workers strike. Its revenue came in slightly below analyst forecasts, however.
