Stocks fell today led by major tech shares, as Wall Street wrapped up a difficult week in which coronavirus cases rose, U.S. fiscal stimulus talks broke down and traders braced for next week’s presidential election.

Dow Jones finished -157 at 26,501

S&P 500 finished -40 at 3,269

NASDAQ finished -274 at 10,911

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 4 basis points yielding 0.87%

Oil prices closed down $0.58 ending at $35.59 a barrel

Gold prices closed up $10.20 ending at $1,878 an ounce

In the days’ stock news:

• Amazon dropped more than 5% despite the company reporting better-than-expected third quarter results.
• Exxon closed almost 1% after it reported its third straight quarter of losses.
• Facebook dropped more than 6% after the company said its user base in the U.S. and Canada declined during the third quarter. The social media company said daily active users between the two countries fell to 196 million from 198 million a quarter earlier.
