Stocks closed down today giving back some of Friday’s gains as concerns over supply chain challenges, inflation and the pace of the labor market’s recovery.

 

Dow Jones finished -324 at 34,002

S&P 500 finished -57 at 4,300

NASDAQ finished -311 at 14,255

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 2 basis points yielding 1.49%

Oil prices closed up $1.72 ending at $77.60 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $10.00 ending at $1,768 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Ford Motor closed up 1% after sales showed signs of improvement during the third quarter. Sales improved from losses of more than 30% in July and August, to 17.7% in September.
  • Tesla closed up .8% despite the tech-led sell-off in the broader market. The rally came after Tesla said it delivered 241,300 vehicles in the third quarter, topping analysts’ expectations.
