Stocks closed up today as investors awaited more labor market data, which will serve as crucial information in determining the path forward for the monetary policies underpinning risk assets over the past year.

 

Dow Jones finished +131 at 35,443

S&P 500 finished +13 at 4,536

NASDAQ finished +22 at 15,331

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 1 basis point yielding 1.29%

Oil prices closed up $1.19 ending at $69.77 a barrel.

Gold prices closed down $4.00 ending at $1,812 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Chewy closed down 9% hit after reporting quarterly results late Wednesday. Chewy recorded a loss of 4 cents per share, which was greater than the 2 cents estimated by analysts.
  • Lands’ End dropped more than 9% after Lands’ End said its profit margins would moderate in the back half of its fiscal year due to supply chain challenges. Earnings beat on the top and bottom lines of quarterly results.
