Stocks fell sharply today, retreating from all-time highs as tech — the market leader since the rebound began in late March — suffered its biggest drop in months.

 

Dow Jones finished -808 at 28,292

S&P 500 finished d-126 at 3,455

NASDAQ finished -598 at 11,458

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed down 1 basis point yielding 0.64%

Oil prices closed down $0.18 ending at $41.33 a barrel

Gold prices closed down $6.20 ending at $1,938 an ounce

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Cruise stocks rose today following an announcement from Carnival that it will resume voyages in Italy this weekend. Shares of Carnival gained more than 5%
  • Shares of Facebook dropped more than 3% amid a big sell-off in major technology shares. The social media company also announced it will ban new political ads from running in the week before the Nov. 3 presidential election. Shares are still up about 40% this year.
