Stocks fell today extending declines after a selloff a day earlier led the S&P 500 to its worst single-session drop in nearly three months. In economic news, the U.S. unemployment rate fell to 8.4% last month from 10.2% in July.

 

Dow Jones finished -159 at 28,133

S&P 500 finished -28 at 3,426

NASDAQ finished -145 at 11,313

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 9 basis points yielding 0.71%

Oil prices closed down $1.82 ending at $39.55 a barrel

Gold prices closed up $6.60 ending at $1,944 an ounce

  • Tesla shares whipsawed in midday trading, trading higher by more than 2% after falling as much as 8.5% and into bear-market territory earlier in the day.
  • DocuSign continued its fall on Friday and were down more than 10% despite beating Wall Street estimates for second quarter earnings and revenues.
