Were you aware that 95% of all small businesses in America have less than $1 million in annual revenue? And of all small businesses, 84% never sell?? They either lock the door and walk away or liquidate for pennies on the dollar. Pretty sad if that happens.
The reasons why people go into business in the first place are varied. Some are particularly skilled in a specific trade and would like to go off on their own. They soon realize they may be good “at doing something,” but quickly learn they are not very good at operating a business. Others, perhaps, are disgruntled with their current employment situation, and want to be “the boss.”! So, they venture off into the great unknown!
Regardless of the reason, the #1 reason one should WANT to go into business, is to CREATE WEALTH. Every decision a business owner makes when they first open should be focused on BUILDING EQUITY, with the sole purpose of someday SELLING their enterprise.
Unfortunately, they become so entrenched in the day-to-day challenges of cash flow, employees, and customer acquisition, that simply getting through that day is top priority. And then it all begins again tomorrow!!!
