Stocks closed down today at the start of a holiday-shortened week of trading, with investors considering renewed virus-related restrictions overseas.

 

Dow Jones finished -433 at 34,932

S&P 500 finished -53 at 4,568

NASDAQ finished -189 at 14,980

 

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 2 basis points yielding 1.42%

Oil prices closed down $2.20 ending at $68.66 a barrel.

Gold prices closed down $15.40 ending at $1,789 an ounce.

 

In the days’ stock news:

 

  • Oracle closed down 5% following the announcement that they will acquire medical records technology provider Cerner in an all-cash deal of $95 per share, or about $28.3 billion in equity value.
  • Sunrun closed down 8% with the uncertainty about the Build Back Better bill, and after KeyBanc cut the stock to a sector weight rating.
