Stocks closed at all-time highs as optimism over earnings and the economic reopening at least temporarily outweighed lingering concerns over the virus and changes to monetary policy.

Dow Jones finished +31 at 35,366

S&P 500 finished +7 at 4,486

NASDAQ finished +77 at 15,019

The 10 Year Treasury closed up 4 basis points yielding 1.29%

Oil prices closed up $2.00 ending at $67.64 v a barrel.

Gold prices closed down $0.50 ending at $1,806 an ounce.

Best Buy shares closed up more than 8% after the company issued better-than-expected quarterly results. Best Buy reported earnings of $2.98 per share on revenue of $11.85 billion.
Medtronic closed up 3.2% following the company’s first-quarter earnings, which beat expectations on the top and bottom line. Medtronic earned $1.41 per share on an adjusted basis on revenue of $7.99 billion.
