Stocks were down today as investors await more details on the Federal Reserve’s plan to pull back on monetary stimulus from the central bank’s annual symposium on Friday.


Dow Jones finished -192 at 35,213

S&P 500 finished -26 at 4,470

NASDAQ finished -96 at 14,945


The 10 Year Treasury closed even yielding 1.34%

Oil prices closed down $0.48 ending at $67.88 a barrel.

Gold prices closed up $3.70 ending at $1,794 an ounce.

  • Ulta Beauty closed down slightly despite more than doubling the $2.59 estimate with a quarterly profit of $4.56 per share. The cosmetics retailer’s revenue beat estimates as well, and it raised its full-year outlook as an overall improvement in the beauty industry continues.
  • Salesforce closed up 2.6% after they earned an adjusted $1.48 per share for the second quarter, beating the 92 cents estimate, with revenue also topping Wall Street forecasts. Salesforce also issued an upbeat outlook as companies continue to shift applications to the cloud.
